Hypnotherapy

ghr 200 pxl THE TECHNIQUESI trained in Advanced Hypnotherapy with Atkinson Ball College of Hypnotherapy. with Cherith Powell and Greg Forde in 2006 (London).   Hypnosis has been around for approx 150-yrs and in more common use in the UK since the 1960′s.    The process is simple and relaxing where you can hear everything being said and open your eyes at any time.  The mind has the conscious and subconscious aspects and hypnosis works by quietening the ‘chattering’ conscious mind, in order to work directly with the subconscious mind and make change at a deeper level.

If we have an unhelpful behaviour, for example lets say someone is a comfort eater, and they want to change so that they regain control over food to become healthier and happier.  However the comfort eating has become a habit and we can either ‘try’ through will-power, or the quickest way is to contact the subconscious mind directly in order to make the change.  Once the habit is broken at the deeper level there is no longer a need for the struggle of ‘will’ that people find themselves locked into with ‘diets’.

Life Coaching

Coaching is a great application to enable you to get from A-B by using the space provided with a Coach.  There are approximately 8-area’s in the Life Balance Wheel and the aim is to have all these ‘plates’ balanced harmoniously so that your life can flow and deliver all the wonderful things you are capable of achieving.

When life is off-balance in one area it can have a domino-effect on the others and throw it off-course.  Coaching sessions allow the opportunity to explore a specific aspect and bring it back into harmony in line with your ambitions and desires.

I qualified in Life Coaching (Certificate and Diploma) with the NCFE in 2005 (through Newcastle College).

MTT (Meridian Tapping Techniques)

EFT (Emotional Field Techniques) is monitored by AAMET of which I’m a registered practitioner …  I trained in EFT Levels 1 & 2 with Lee Turner at EFT Brighton in 2008 (Hove).

It is the energy system that Gary Craig derived after attending a TFT (Thought Field Therapy) course with Roger Callahan – around 20-yrs.  Gary Craig took Callahan’s techniques and simplified them.  They are based on a simplification of the Chinese Energy Meridian System found in acupuncture. Although they work quite similarly, the application is different, because EFT is more adaptable during the process, ensuring an immediate and sensitive response which subsequently cuts down on the number of sessions required.

Needle free, these techniques rely ‘tapping’ on the body and ‘unblocking’ the energy blockages which brings about the requested change.  EFT is particularly suitable for addictions, anxiety, confidence, phobias and trauma.  It is also very effective for working with children, as they pick it up quickly.

Although these techniques are easy enough, initially it is best to learn them from a trained therapist in order to become familiar with how they work for you. Subsequently you’ll find you can apply them to all areas of your life, whenever needed. This makes them a great life tool.

NB:  Of late Gary Craig has amended his open-hand policy and now only recognizes EFT practitioners who’ve trained with him.  In order to preserve the value of the training that practitioners (like myself) studied in ‘all good faith’, there is now a movement to rename what we do as the Meridian Tapping Technique.

NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming):

Introduced by Americans Richard Bandler and John Grinder, NLP has been around since the early 1980′s … made well-known by Paul McKenna when he began training NLP with Richard Bandler.   John Grinder now also offers NLP training in the UK alongside his wife …  I took my NLP Practitioner certificate with Richard Bandler, Paul McKenna and Michael Breen in 2004 (London).

NLP is probably used more in corporate training than any other quick-change technique.  Its fast working directly with the subconscious mind – enabling new neural pathways of behaviour.  What this means is that our habits and behaviours are all laid down in the cells which are connected through the nervous system.  The neural pathways are how our behaviours repeat themselves and are the good guys responsible for not having to learn how to tie our shoelaces every morning or make a cup of tea.

There is detectable change when a neural pathway is broken and a new behaviour replacement.  Fascinating stuff eh!

Everyone has one or more preferences of sensory reference.  Most of us have heard of someone saying how they learn better by looking at something or hearing the instructions.  Well there are five of whats known as submodalities …

  • Visual
  • Kinesthetic
  • Auditory
  • Smell
  • Taste

And these are great informers where the reading of body language is concerned.  What do you think yours is/are?  NLP is highly effective and works very well with Hypnosis and Psych-K.

Psych-K

Psych-K is the system developed  by American Rob Williams around 20-yrs ago.  He had a wild vision for the system and developed it quickly.  Its draws from Kinesiology and NLP with other aspects thrown in.  This system has a wrath of techniques to draw from which makes it more adaptable and works immediately with the clients sub-conscious mind, enabling quick, responsive and immediate change.  Where some treatments take a time to settle Psych-K is instant, which makes it very attractive to people and subsequently reduces numbers of sessions.

Again this technique (with several really excellent ones) give clients reliable tools to take away and use for life.  I’m a qualified Psych-K Advanced Facilitator.

I qualified as an Advanced Facilitator in Psych-K with Mary Trenfield in 2008 (Bristol).
